Report that Veterans Can’t Get Mortgages They Need
Posted on 2012 01 17 by hdnelson
Jody Kahn at John Burns Real Estate Consulting filed this report based on interviews with construction executives. In essence it boils down to saying that difficulties with getting VA appraisals to come in at value are affecting many new construction home sales. DOD routinely provides some funding for school districts near military bases. One of the fears for this year’s round of school levies was the potential for cuts in the important source of funding, especially in the Central Kitsap District. From the Kitsap Sun:
The district was one of 26 in the nation, including North Kitsap School District, to qualify for part of a $30 million pot designed to help districts in military-connected communities improve student achievement. North Kitsap got $1 million. The grant was presentated at Wednesday’s school board meeting, shortly after the district’s final hearing on a budget that includes a $4.2 million general fund reduction.
