Chico Removed from Proposed Silverdale Boundaries

By Admin

As described in this Kitsap Sun article, the group backing Silverdale incorporation has decided to exclude Chico from the proposed boundaries.

The group backing incorporation of Silverdale has decided to redraw its proposed city boundaries to exclude the Chico neighborhood.

The change means the group must start the incorporation process over again.

The decision came after a May 12 Boundary Review Board meeting that was attended by about 200 people. About 40 people asked that Chico be removed from the proposed city limits.

Most said they view Chico as its own community and argued that its rural feel isn’t compatible with urban Silverdale.

Earlier this year, after similar feedback from people in the Island Lake neighborhood, Citizens United decided not to consider that area for inclusion in the proposed new city.
