Number of Delinquent Borrowers Drops - Number of Foreclosures at Record High

By Admin

Banks are moving more aggressively to foreclose on borrowers, but according to the Wall St Journal the number of borrowers who have missed one or more payments is dropping. There are about 47 million mortgages in the US, and according to the article 4.62%, about 2.2 million mortgages, were in foreclosure at the end of December. This number remains high in part because documentation problems are delaying bank’s efforts to complete foreclosures. At the same time, the number of delinquent mortgages fell to 12.9% from 14% at the end of 2009.

All this is a sign that the mortgage market is improving.
