Silverdale Trader Joe’s Could Open by Summer

The sign and a few of Circuit City’s signature red tiles have been removed, but little else has been done to the building’s exterior to indicate its transformation from an electronics big box store to Trader Joe’s, a boutique grocery with a strong following.

But on the inside, construction crews have been busy.

Kitsap County Department of Community Development inspectors have already been called to sign off on a number of projects, signaling the store’s move toward a grand opening, said Jeff Rowe, DCD assistant director.

A spokeswoman for the company said the store is set to open this year but declined to name a specific month. People tied to the project, including community leaders, construction workers and personnel from Trader Joe’s stores in the area, say the doors will likely open this summer.
